Mr Hughes lias announced that the P. and O. steamer Ballarat / was torpedoed and sunk at the entrance to the Einglish Channel on the 25th. All troops and the crew were saved. The Ballarat was a P. and 0. liner of 11,120 tons, buiit m 1911. Her speed was 14J": knots.
