t A conference respecting the deLautoui storm-water drainage proposal was hole at tlie Cook County Council Chamber, this afternoon, when the Mayor (Mr W. G. Sherratt) was m attendance, to gether with Mr. iArmstrong, district en gincer, and Mr. de G. Fraser. — The Chairman said they would like to Uoai his Worship's views on. th c Subject. — The Mayor said he thought most o them knew the locaJity, and tho count; drain was expected to carry the drain age of a good many acres, and it over flowed into county ground, and alsi overflowed into the borough lower down. He was waiting on " the .1 Council to a* certain if they could not giant th« borough some relief.— The Chairmai said he had asked Mr. Armstrong, dis trict engineer, to attend, he having ai ready inspected the locality. The set tiers had met and agreed to carry on' Mr. Armstrong's recommendation.— Mi Armstrong said he. had been asked b\ Cr. Parker to inspect tlie locality ■which ho had done. He understood that the Council had received a lettes from his head office, but personally h< had not received any instructions on lh< subject. He would like to know if tin Council had had a letter from the Do partment stating he was to do tlv work. — The Clerk said he haid received a letter to this effect, Cr. Jex Blak< confirming this statement. — Mr. Ann strong said that being so there must have., been some oversight. Jex Blake: The creek down to the river ' past Thomas's house? — Mr. Armstrong : Yes that is the natural course. — The Chairiman intimated to the Mayor that the Council would proceed with the matter immediately the report came to hand The Chairman thanked the visitors for attending.
