The flagpole of H.M.S. New Zealand, which was damaged m the Battle of Jutland last year, has arrived m Christchurch, and was on exhibition m Cathedral Square. Colleotion-boxes were provided to receive subscriptions for the widows and orphans of the sailors who lost their lives m the battle. The flag, which was flying sq_J the flagpole when it was damaged, was also on view. The flagpole is to be next exhibited m Auckland. Ultimately i.t is to be deposited m the Canterbury Museum.
