The Novoe Vremya publishes an ap palling story of German poison gas exterminating the entire population of a Galiuian village. » The populace and Russian troops posted m the village barely had time to put on masks before an attack was launched. The Russians readily repulsed this, but the civilians were wiped out. Women, driven mad with terror at the sight of the oncoming greenish vapour bringing certain death, killed their children with their own hands to save them from torture. Some took refuge m a church, but a fatal cloud killed them.
Russian soldiers returning after the fight, were confronted by the ghastly spectacle of the bodies of' men, women, and children m attitudes testifying the unspeakable sufferings the victims under gone.
