STAFF SATISFIED.
PRAISE FOR DOMINIONS. LONDON, July 5. Speaking at the High Commissioners* dinner to the Parliamentary delegates of the Empire Sir Bonar Law stated that the very crisis of the war had been leached. "Our general staff," he said, "is satisfied with the results of the.rffensive, so far as it has been pushed." Tlie Germans had singled out the Bri-' tish for special animosity because' their Empire was -based on force, and was m this respect the very antithesis of the British Empire, whose dependence on the moralities had been wonderfully justified by the generous assistance of the Dominions. Britain neither could or would demand assistance, yet the Dominions gave their, best. He believed that never m the history of our race had Britain done so well as m this war. Working-classes and rich alike had given everything freely. There was no nead /to talk of the bravery of the army. ■ t Our soldiers would not' fail us. Britain heard more of the deeds of the Dominion soldiers than she did of her own, but, the British army, was not jealous. The navy was a sure shield, and had kept the Allied cause alive, enabling the collection of the material for the forces wliich Would ensure complete victory. Our finances were limited, but would outlast Germany's. . The raising of. an army ofythree or four million men by the voluntary system was an unparalleled feat, proving that the British', were. not decadent, but -were willing to die for liberty. We had -.von all our wars by staying power. We had that staying power still, and it would win this war. (Cheers.) Respondirig on behalf of Australia, Mr" Glynn, M.H.R., said Australia, was not a iand of despondency, but of moral and material sunshine, with no time for, the slacker m war nor for the loafer m peace.
