Instead of .costing 2d per lb. to place lamb on the London market, he was m a position to state that the cost was 2§d. There were many charges unheard of before the war. Owing to the. scarcity of shipping heavy storage charges had been paid m New Zealand, i:ow. At tho other end th« authorities kept three million carcases m storo as a reserve. ,
