SMUTS DRIVES OUT THE GERMANS. PURSUED BY LAKE 'STEAMERS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received July 20, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 19. General Smuts* official report states that the enemy endeavored to out communication north of Handeni, also the Usimbara railway, between Korogwe and Tanga, and have been driven down the Pahgani river. The clearance of this area proceeds satisfactorily. A landing force under Brigadier Crewe captured Muanza, on the southem shore of Lake Victoria. A majority of the European Germans fled by the Lake southwards, our vessels pursuing them.
