His name was included m one . of the first casualty lists issued m connection Avith that campaign. He Avas invalided home, and returned to the front some months a-jo, having been pro. moted from the rank of lieutenant to that of captain. Captain Motpeth is a son d! Mi- H. D. Morpeth, town clerk of . Waihi, and is 24 years of age. Prior to his departure on active service, he was engaged as a teller m the Bank of New Zealand, Thames. Corporal Michael Kelly, who was recently -reported as having been killed m action, was a Gisborne member of the Bth reinforcements, He Was a seaman, but A^fts working at Matawai when he enlisted. .
