LONDON, Jaai. 22. Captain Bean, the Australian war correspondent, who has been spending a short holiday m England, visited the West front. He is shortly returning towards Egypt. The visit to tho West front was designed to afford him a comparison of the methods m France and the Dardanelles. Captain Bean studied the construction of the trenches and the earthworks, which are accepted as a standard. Tlie knowledge will be useful to him, as he is compiling a history of Gallipoli. The French National Union of Railway Workers visited General Joffre, and at the close of the interview General Joffre said: "Let the civlians stand fast. It is essential that the French people be steadfast. Victory is ours; he would not say whether immediately or m the near future. lam doing my duty; let everyone do hia according to his capacity. The position is that we must stick together until victory." CHRISTTANIA, Jan. 22. The export of butter has been prohibited.
