ENEMY ADVANCE IN COMPACT MASSES. •

The High Commissioner oablea: — LONDON/ Feb. 2.55 p.m. Petrograd reports that the battle on the left of the Vistula. Borjimoff, Voilaschidiovoska front continued, with extraordinary violence, the enemy advancing iii compact masses, and bringing up seven, divisions with one hundred batteries supporting them. The Russian counter-attacks began on Wednesday night. A series of bayonet charges compelled the enemy to act on the defensive. Near Barjimotf the Russians took two lines of German trenches.After an obstinate struggle, the Russians occupied the Volia Schidlovska estate, which the enemy had held for two days. The battle continues furiously near Svidnik Valley. At Lobortch fiver,, in the direction of Uszok, the Russians' advanced, taking two thousand prisoners. Attempts of the enemy to advance on Wyszikow Pass, in the vicinity of Taietaroff Avere repelled with heavy losses. In the region oi Fourholka and Beskid Passes, after stout resistance, the Russians withdrew from three passes, occupying previouslyprepared positions.
