A Karitane nurse is to be allowed to act as assistant to Plunket nurses, provided she has the recommendation of the Central Council and approval of the Health Department, at a salary of £2 pea* Aveek and travelling expenses (paid by the branch employing her.) After discussion the following resolution Avas: ' passed : "The delegates at the conference of the Society for the Health of Women and Children are strongly of opinion that the conditions of the milk supply should he brought under tho notice of the Government Avith a vieAv to its improvement." This resolution is to be brought wider! the notice of the Prime Minister by a deputation which is to Avait on Mr Massey to-day. A considerable amount of. routine business Avas transacted and the conference Avas adjourned. A large deputation of delegates from the Plunket Society Conference waited on the Prime Minister to-day. In replying Mr Massey said the Government Avould endeavor to relieve Dr. Truby King from his duties at Seacliff for a portion of the year to enable him to devote more time to the Avork of the Plunket Society. He promised to consider the subject of an increased grant to Karitane hospital j Dunedin, when framing the Supplementary Estimates. He agreed as to the necessity of a pure milk supply. In Auckland animals, dairies, food, Avater supply, and dairying utensils Avere regularly inspected. He wished he could say the same of other centres. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes said that he would always favor controlling the milk supply of towns. The Hon. J. Allen said that the women were connected Avith a movement that was a great national asset to the Dominion. The Plunket Society Conference resolved to ask the Minister of Education to have all Avomen inspectors to homes where children are hoarded nut State trained, the Karitane Hospital Society to bear the expense ; that the Cen< rvl Council prepare uniform case and n te bonks; that all reports from bran \s of the society be forwarded to the m ;ir-i\-*t district health officer.
