RIOT OVER IRISH PLAY.
COMPANY ATTACKED AND HOTEL STORMED. THE SCENERYj SMASHED. (Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received February 6, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 5. George Birmingham's play "General John Regan" was acted at Westport, County Mayo, ' where- the Rev. J. O. Hannay, who writes under the name of "George Birmingham,'' -was rector' for twenty yearg. Four hundred people attacked the company. They broke the windows of the hotel and stormed the i stage and smashed the scenery. The police dispersed the rioters with batons. The demonstrations were due to the belief that Ballymoy, the scene of the play, waa Westport.
