The American press is disgusted at Britain's refusal to participate m the l\tna.ma Exhibition. I'ho general opinion is that the. Government has blundered badly m. revealing an agreement with Germany not to participate. Germany would be an exhibitor if not bound to the chariot wheels of British stupidity. The New York Herald says: "It has been commonly remarked recently that ( ferman diplomacy has been constantly outclassing the 'British. What shrewder move, is possible than to drive m a wedge to . split the Anglo-American friendship? The general impression is that Britain is acting m n. spirit of petty revenge for the Panama. Canal Act. The Times' Berlin correspondent controverts the view that Ballin'a Panama Committee was dissolved owing to the Kaiser's influence. The suggestion that England and Germany wero pledged not to exhibit at San Francisco . does not obtain credence m Germany.
