What the Chief Justice termed the most novel application m his forty years' experience of courts and their work was made to liim at Wanganui on Saturday, when a horse trainer asked to be excused from service as a juror. He said that the horses under his care had important engagements at Marton this week, and if debarred from attending to them m the last few days, all past preparations might not be of any avail. His Honor granted tho application.
