IN.VERCARGILL, last night. The final stage, as far as . the local police are concerned, 'm the case of tlie Maiden Island native Esini, who was brought to Bluff by the barque Anglo-Norman a fortnight ago, charged with tlie murder of a fellow-native on the island m March last, was reached today, when the magistrate ordered that Esini be deported to Suva, and pending I such removal will be detailed m Auck- [ land Gaol. Inspector Norwood exI plained to the Court that a. boat would be I leaving Auckland for the Islands on the 1 12 th pf the present month. INVERCARGILL, last night. v [ At the Supreme Court before Sir Joshua Williams, Janet S. , Reid sued David MacDougall, of Gore, for £500 for alleged slander. The case for plaintiff was that she was engaged m August last as housekeeper for Alexander Anderson, a farmer, living m Gore. In November last Mr Anderson received an account from MacDougall, who supplied him with _> milk. Hje considered the amount excessive, and, m the course of a row between the two men MacDougall uttered the slander complained of. II alleged immorality on the part of plaintiff and her sister. The plaintiff was not present, but subsequently Mr Anderson told her lie could not retain her services any longer. Sho therefore lost her situation and had also suffered m health. The case is not concluded.
