THE. LABOR MARKET.
(Special to Herald.) WEIXiNGTON, this day. Summarising labor conditions m Gisborne the Labor Department states that the falling off m- trade reported last month still continues at an increased rate. Although it is apparent m most of the skilled trades, it is more especially so with unskilled labor. With the exception of the various . branches of tho building trade and the meat freezj ing industry, there is a considerable falling off reported generally. The number of- applicants for unskilled labor is , about the same as last month. There J have been very few applicants from , employers for this , class of labor during the month. The position has been relieved somewhat oy the Government finding employment for some thirty men .at road-making m the district. There |is still a considerable number of men ! awaiting employment. The Borough Council has discharged a number of men on account of the sewerage works nearing completion and the outlook for unskilled labor m the district for the winter months is not .promising.
