MISTAKEN FOR MILITANTS.
LADIES' ROUGH EXPERIENCE. LONDON, May 28. Two ladies Avho had the misfortune to be mistaken for suffragettes came in for some very rough treatment at the hands of a crowd in Holyhead, Wales. They Avent to a hall at Avhich Mr McIvaiina, Secretary for Home Affairs, Avas announced to-. speak,: but because they did not happen to haA*e tickets' of admission, it was at. once suspected that they Avere suffragettes. The crowd rushed at the Avomen, pelting them with vnxious missile^, and folloAving them through the croAvd for a distance of two ' miles. ' The. way in Avhich many innocents are suffering on account of the suffragettes is shoxvn by an incident that occurred. A lady travelling in one of the railways had Avith.her a toy engine, the spring of Avhich was. somehoAV started by the mo l tion of the train. One. of the other passengers upon hearing the clicking of the clockwork vowed to himself that the Avoman was ; a suffragette. He Avas equally coiiA'inced that the mysterious clicking he could hear Avas coming from an infernal machine, and Avithout any ado he seized the package from which the sounds were coming and hurled it out of the carriage windoAv.
