SENTENCED TO DEATH.
(Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received June 5. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 4. ' William Burton, a gamekeeper, has been sentenced to death on a charge of murdering Winifred Mitchell, a farm servant.
The body was found buried in a shalW grave at Gussage, Wimborne (Dorsetshire), a feAv Aveeks ago. Some boys saw the open grave on March 30, and the following day the girl disappeared, saying that she Avas going to Canada. No search Avas made until the girl's false teeth were found in a wood a fortnight later. A search then revealed the grave, which had been filled in. The girl, who was, fully dressed, had been shot in the head. Burton is a married man. Letters were found among the girl's effects in Burton's handAvriting couched in affectionate language. One witness stated that Burton admitted that he intended j to elope with the girl to Canada.
