. COLLISION OF MOTOR CAR AND CYCLE. (Per Press Association.) TLMARU, this day. The Supreme Court is occupied to-day with a case i-gainst C. H. Besley, charged with manslaughter by alleged culpably negligent driving of a motor car, with tho result that a postal officer on a cycle Avas run into and killed. Commenting on this case to the grand jury, his Honor said there were several degrees of manslaughter. This was a painful case, in whieh it was impossible not to sympathise Avith the accused, a respectable man, against whom there was no suggestion of malice, and Avho probably ; had already felt more keenly the consequence of the accident than any punish- ! ment that might be inflicted. The grand jury, hoAvever, should not.be influenced by "that consideration. The. grounds of the charge were that accused Avas on the wrong side of the road, that the car was insufficiently lighted, and tliat he did not sound his horn. The grand jury found a trine bill.
