'• ■ ■■ i (Per Press Association.)' . \ HASTINGS, last night, i John Ellis Smith, a middle-aged man, ' was committed for trial to-day on a charge that he attempted to discharge a weapon loaded with destructive material at Francis Henry Bloxsome. ' The evidence for the prosecution Alleged that Smith went to Bloxsome's house on May 24 and asked for £1, which, he maintained, was owing to him. On Bloxsome -refusing, accused drew a revolver, which he pointed at the prosecutor, saying : "If this won't do, this (producing a sheath knife) will." Bloxsome closed with Smith, whom he held till the arrival of the police. Tlie revolver was found to be loaded in four chambers. Accused reserved his defence. 'Bail was refused.
