NOVICES FOR OLYMPIAD.
BRITAIN WAKING UP.
LONDON, May 28
With a view of discovering British talent for the next Olympic - Games, a scheme has been approved, .and funds provided, for a series of novice trials under the direction of the British Amateur Athletic Association.
The events will be open to any entrants over the age of 17 who have not won a prize m open competition, wins m school sports not being counted. Entries will be taken free, and the prizes will be gold, silver, and bronze medals of a special design, and not exceeding £2 each m value. '.
It is suggested that 150 events shall be run off m England and 50 each m Scotland and Ireland during 1913-14, and the names of the novices showing promise will be carefully registered and their performances closely watched.
Every endeavor will bp made to give entrants special training facilities, and a report on the. trials will eventually be submitted to a special Olympic committee.
