BRITISH TERRITORIALS.
(Per Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, last night.
Questioned on the working of the terri. torial system at Homo, the Hon. J.. Allen said that practically everyone there upheld the New Zealand territorial system — "even those," he remarked, "who are not upholding the territorial system m England. Tne reason is that they all feel that New Zealand is doing the right thing. ""There is a great deal of misrepresentation of New Zealand's system being circulated at Home, but people value it for what it is worth As a matter of fact, they take no notice of it. The territorial system at Home does not go far enough — does not provide what I think to be essential for a territorial defence force m England— but Lord Roberts is making great headway, and it is astonishing hoyv public opinion is changing on the subject. While I was at Home I addressed a public meeting at Bradford on this question, among others, and although Bradford is supposed to be what you would call a hot place at which to venture on the subject, I received an excellent hearing, which, I think, is significant."
