At the Magistrate's Court the iiearing was. concluded of a charge against a member of the Charitable Aid Board of having received payment after becoming a member for work done previous to his appointment. The magistrate (Mr Hewitt) inflicted a fine of £5 10s to enable an appeal if desired. Defendant intimated his intention to ,, refund the amount of £21 affected. DUNEDIN, last,.night. In the : Arbitration ' Court this afternoon the Dimedin Coal Yard Laborers' Union applied for an. award,. The.workers asked, for a minimum wage' of £3 per week, while the 'employers offered £2 ss. The Court, reserved its decision, and adjourned till Wednesday. AUCKLAND;. Iast night.
