ARMED BURGLARS.
DARING ROBBERIES IN SYDNEY.
MAN BADLY INJURED
(Pr«ss Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) SYDNEY, May 7. j There has been a recurrence of the burglary boom lately, and frequent daring robberies m the city and suburbs. After a desperate struggle a burglar twice shot Mr Overton, the proprietor of the Tyne Laundry at Manly, and escaped. The condition of Mr Overton is serious. j Mr Overton was awakened to find a burglar m his bedroom, and grappled with him. There was a fierce fight, and j the intruder fired a revolver, wounding! Mr Overton m the neck. In spite of , his wound Mr Overton continued the ntruggle, but the burglar again fired, this timo inflicting a wound m the stomach. Mr Overton took hold of the intruder, and was dragged intfo the passage, where the burglar shook himself free and escaped with £20 worth of jewellery. At Rose Bay earlier m the night an armed and masked man terrorised and i locked up Alderman Kelly's servants, and secured a quantity of silverware . At Clyde two masked men stuck up the caretaker of the Football Association grounds, and appropriated all the cash on the premises. At Annandale, a burglar visited the home of a railway employee who was absent at work, and forced his wife at the point of the revolver to accompany him through the rooms while he searchi cd. His only reward was the husband's j supper, ready on a table. He ate the i supper. In all cases the burglars escaped.
