The usual fortnightly stock sales were held at the Matawhero 'yards to-day. There was a big yarding of both cattle and sheep, and the attendance was good. Messrs Dalffety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Co. offered 9000 sheep and 30 head of cattle. They commenced their sale at 10 o'clock with fat teheep, everything offered being sold under keen competition, as follows: — 330 wethers 16s 3d, 18 ewes 13s lid, 25 do. 12s sd, 22 do. 13s 6d, 50 do. 12s sd. 40 do. 9s sd, 15 do. 12s 7d. Fat cattle were offered next, 23 head being put up, of which only 2 bullocks sold at £7 and 1 cow at £4 10s.

Messrs Williams and Kettle, N.Z. Loan and Mercantile and Murray, Roberts and Co. yarded 8000 sheep, 400 cattle, and 17 pigs. They commenced their sale with fat sheep. The entry comprised about 200 ewes, all of which sold, as follows: 54 ewes 12s, 30 do. 12s Bd, 19 do. 12s 9d, 78 do. 12s 6d, 41 do. 9s Id, 4 do. 15s 2d, 15 do. 9s Bd, 67 do. lls Bd.

Fat cattle: The entry was larjrer than it has been for some time, and everything of good quality was easily disposed of. The sales were: 2 cows £3 15s, 1 bullock £5, 1 do. £8 2s 6d, 3 cows £3 17s 6d, 1 cow £5 10s, l / do. £5 7s 6d, 1 do. £4 10s, 11 cows £4 13s, 6 do. £3 10s. 2 do. £4 23 6d, 6 do. £4, 9 do. 4 £4 103, 2 bullocks £4 ss, 1 cow £4 10s, 3 cows £6 ss, 1 bullock £5. Store sheep were offered at 11 o'clock, and the following sales were effected up to the luncheon adjournment: 85 cull ewes 2s 6d, 211 ewes m lamb 7s Bd, 124 small lambs 3s 10d, 45 cull ewes 3s 6d, 40 ewes Gs 6d. 10 lambs 6s lOd, 50 ewes ss, 180 do. 4s 6d, 125 2-tootb. wethers 11s 7d, 95 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes ss, 762 2-tooth wethers 9s 9d, 548 2-tooth wethers 14s, 170 ewes 4s 9d, 167 lambs 4s 3d, 49 2-tooth wethers ss, 102 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 8s 7d, .342 4-tooth wethers 10s Bd, 20 ewes 7s id, 62 wethers 10s 9d, 96 lambs 4s 6d, 139 emptyewes 8s 7d, 143 lambs ss, 120 empty ewes ss. 250 4 and 5-year-old ewes 5s 9d, 488 ewes m lamb Bs, 88 cull ewes 2s 6d.

After the luncheon adjournment Messrs Williams and Kettle, the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile and Murray, Roberts and Co. continued the sale of store sheep. The following lots were sold: 100 lambs 5s Bd, 100 do. 5s 4d, 269 do. 5s Id, 171 4 and s-year-old empty ewes 10s 3d, 233 lambs 5s 6d, 59 2 and 4-tooth ewes 10s lOd, 38 ewes 4s 2d, 34 cull ewes 3s 7d, 23 do. 3s 3d, 12 do. 2s lid, 36 ewes 4s Bd, 1320 wethers 123 9d, 110 ewes 10s 4d, 213 ewes m lamb 5s 9d.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton's entry of store sheep included a large number of lambs, for which there was good demand. The high price of 10s 7d was reached; wethers brought up to ISs.
