Tlie damage caused by a recent typhoon is estimated at £4,000,000. Crops have been ruined. The mailboat Kiekomarvs foundered off Enshu, and the' crew and passengers perished. The harbors at Osaka and Nacoya have been demolished. Twenty thousand houses * at Osaka have been wrecked. , Two hundred -and sixty-two persons were killed and 283 were injured m Gifu. • : -
