! PALMERSTON ,N., this day. j There was some-' extraordinary evidience at the hearing of a serious charge against the "tohunga" Hingawata Tuparoa, which was begun yesterday afternoon. He was charged With an offence on Emily H^tft, aged 16, at Motutiti pa. They bit the pen, and Hingawata prescribed schnapps with a bit of parsley m it, and gave Emily so much whisky that her mother protested, but Hingawata insisted that it was part of the cure.. He came again on April 29th, and gave them more whisky, and Emily staggered into her mother's room. Mrs Hingawata pulled her out, and took her to bed with them, f ahd next morning Emily told her mother that Hingawata had assaulted her. The hearing was resumed to-day.
