TALLY CLERKS AND UNIONISTS.
(Press Assn. — By Telegraph. — Copyright.)
SYDNEY, July 15. The wharf laborers at several wharves refused to work with non-unionist tally clerks. The difficulty was overcome by the substitution of unionist clerks. It is significant that a request was recently made to the shipping companies and the Stevedores' Association by the Clerks' Union for a conference to discuss wages and conditions, and it is stated that if there is no conference m the meantime, a mass meeting will be held on Sunday to consider the situation. The clerks claim to have a backing among the waterfront unions.
