POVERTY BAY SHEEP DOC TRIALS
Tlie Sheep Dog Trials were concluded this morning when class 3 was finished. Mr G. Hinton's Skipper proved the winner of this event with 28 points, the second dog being Mr .Teutonberg's Lad- < i: ™. six points behind. Mr R. Meads' J ne wits third with 21^ points, Mr G. H. 4\ T orris's Sharp fourth with 21 points. Mr H. O. Redmond's Madge and Mr M. Sullivan's Dame and L. Newland s Rover tied for fifth place with 20 points. Following were the points : —
Class lll.— Hunt-away te a flog, bring bock and yard, about 350 yards. Time: 15 minutes. Ist prise £6 ani gold medal, 2nd prize £4, 3rd prize £2 10s, 4th prize £1, sth prize 10s, 6th prize ss. Points: Hunt-away 10, bring back 8, command 6, yarding 8.
The best looking dog the ground was adjudged tobe/Mr E. Boushelds Lome. Mr J H. Caesar's cup for the best team of three dogs one m each class, each, dog to score at least 15 points m lus class the winner to hold the cup for one year, was awarded to Mr M Sullivan. Mr B. McKenzie's trophy lor best team of dogs m any class scoring highest, points, value £2 2s : T. W. Martin. _fc>iiyer cup, presented by Mrs AleKenzie, senr., and Mr A. McKenzie, valued, at 7 guineas, for competitor scoring most points: T. VV. Martin.' Mr C. Neenan's gift, of a pony each for the youngest, and oldest shepherd BCO ""g"? 06^ Points at the meeting went ™H.- Fitzgerald for the youngest, and E. Bousfield for the oldest. Gold medal, valued at £2 2s, presented by Mr As. B. Smale, for the dog that completed the course m Class 1 without barking, was awarded to Mr M. Sullivan.' A prize, presented by Mr J. Sisterson, -valued at £2 2s, for the best style m which a competitor worked his dogs, was 'won by H. J. Kent. Mr J. Gardiner's prize, valued £1 Is. for the runner-up m Class 3: Mr T W. Fair. Little Sheep Dip Company's prize, valued £1. for best pulling work m Class 7>. tv.-t.s ' divided between Messrs Red mnnd, Herbert, and Tutonberg.
Mr J. R. Murphy's prize, valued at £2 2s, for the dog under best command, was won by Mr R. Wilson's Rae.
A trophy, presented by Mr W. Good, value £1 Is, for dog scoring most uoitits at tlie meeting, was won for G. Hinton by Skipper. Special prize of £1 Is, presented by Nasmith and Son, for the member who had not competed m any previous trial and who scored' most points: W. Parkinson.
