(Special to Herald.) \-(y WAIPIRO BAY, this day. j At the monthly meeting of the Waiapu County Council there Mere present: — Ci-s-.K. S. Williams (chairman), A. BT Williams, Sherwood, Knox, Oates, Heald and Wicksteed-. Correspondence was received as foilows: — From J. ■ O'Shea, asking permission to leave work on contract 4-12, owing to the weather conditions; — Cr Heald moved, and Cr Knox seconded, that permission be granted. — Carried. From the District Engineer, asking the Council to expend a sum of nioney on roads. — Cr* Knox moved, and, Cr Heald seconded, that the work be done on the roads riientibned, the District Engineer to be informed that the Council is -willing to spend the 'money .+-.■ ■ Carried. From the Under-Secretary for the Department of Internal Affairs re memorials to his late Majesty King Edward, asking if there was any m this county. — The clerk was instructed to return the form, »vith a letter that there were no memorials m this county to his late Majesty. . From the Trade Coriimissioner, asking assistance m compiling data for the compilation of statistics of motor cars and cycles registered m the Dominion. — The chairman moved, and Or Wicksteed seconded, that a reply be made that there arejio cars or' cycles m the coumty. — Carried. From John Green, forwarding an application for a slaughter-house license. — Cr Oates moved, and Cr Heald seconded, that the 'license be granted. — Carried. From Savage and Lovett, Tokomaru BaVj Risking that a bad slip be repaired on the road leading to their sections. — Cr Heald moved,- and Cr Oates seconded> that the overseer inspect and put the road m order.-— Carried. From P. Godbald, Tokomaru Bay, asking for the . transfer, . of a billiami'oom licensee from J. llall to himself. — The/clerk was instructed to inform the applicant that Mr Ball must apply for a transfer, when .it would oe considered. • From the Public Trustee, re application for loan of £53000 for Te Araroa jetty.— Cr Heald moved, and Or Knox seconded, that the New Zealand State Guaranteed' Advances Office be applied ■to for a loan. — Carried. ' ; The Engineer's report was read and considered. — Cr Sherwood moved, and Or Wicksteed seconded, that the action of the committee m accepting C. McCracken's tender for forming a road near the freezing works be approved.— Carried. > Cr Heald moved, and Cr Wicksteed seconded, that a progress payment of £100 be made to Mr O' Regan, on account of the survey^.of the Koko-Moku road. — Carried. * The overseer's report wasi i^ead and considered. — The chairman moved, and Cr Sherwood seconded, that Watertables be opened up from the metalling to the bottom of the hill on the Tokomaru HilU-Carried. > Or Knox moved, ' and Cr Wicksteed seconded, that work on the MataWaitahia road be completed at the contractor's expense. — Carried. The Council went into committee to open tenders, and 6\\ resuming, resolv-. Ed that tlie tender of Mr Conoll be ac-. cepted for contract 15-12, the tender of R. Brown for contract 14-12 was accepted, and the tender of T. McNaniara for contract 13 : 12 was accepted. Cr Wicksteed moved, and Cr Heald seconded, that the overseer be instructed to have roads and culverts repaired on Tuparoa-Whareponga road;— Carried. * Or >H,eald moved, and.Cr Wicldsteed seconded, that Mr Henderson's pro* perty, Kopuapouhamu Valley, be connected with' the road at a convenient spot. — Oar-fiedC : The chairman moved, and Cr Wiok- . steed seconded, that estimates of survey^ on the main road to Jerusalem Vallfey be prepared.— Carried. A special meeting was held t° adopt s by-law No. 8, forbidding the placing of r bottles, tins, glass, or other rubbish jon public roads.— Cr Oates moved, and ' Cr Heald seconded, that by-law No. 8 I be adopted. — Carried.
