It is alleged that the steamer Texas, which Avas sunk at Smyrna-, did not strike a mine, but Avas sunk by a shell after blank shots had been fired, for refusing to folloAv the channel. Enver Bey reports tho capture of two Italian guns at Tobruk. Forty Italians were killed. Major Enver Bey, one of Turkey's foremost military 'men, Avas the hero, Avith Niazi Bey, of the Young Turks Revolution. Early m the war he A^olunteered to organise the various Arab tribes of Turkey for home defence m the interior of Tripoli. It Avas recently reported that he had died of gangrene, following upon a . wound received m battle, but this Avas afterwards denied.
