ARMED "■ MOBS IN STREETS
BEYROUT,. February 28. In consequence of Italy's action m sinking Turkish vessels iv the harbor, great excitement prevails. Altogether 1550 troops have arrived -in Bey rout from Damascus. The British and American Consuls have protested to the Governor of the town against the presence of armed mobs m the streets, and 'a' "guarantee has been given for the security of foreign residents. Martial law has been proclaimed. VIENNA, February 28. ' 'The leading papers comment sarcastically on Italy's- war prowess, and strong condemnation i s made of the attack on Beyrout. Die Zeit Contains an article urging the Powers to take action to prevent. -Italy repeating such an attack.
