NEW BRIDGE OPENED.

I •The new ferro-concrete bridge, 762fA : long, across' the Rniamahunga viver, oetween^Featherston and Martinborough, completed last month* at a cost o£ £8655, was opened for traffic to-day by , the , Minister Publics Works, before a i large attendance. Speeches were made \ by Mr Buchanan, MU*,, .apd, others, Tho bridge is ?the first .structure : of iits-^an : d> in th6\Dominion. Mrs A. I#. McLcod, wife of the Chairman of the -Featherston GSounty Council, out the ribbon, and Mr Buchanan's motor car crossed. The j bridge was thbu tested 1 by a traction ■ engine and loaded truoks of wool, about I AC tons, standing on the centre. No apparent movement was detected. Ittie new bridge, by request of the South Wairavapa natives, will be known as "Tokato Moana," meaning "The : Rock that stands ior ever."
