PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Gisborne committee of the New Zealand Producers' Association was held to-day, there being present: Messrs W. D. Lysnar (chairman), C. J. Parker, and* J. O. Field. An apology was" received from Mr H. White, who was unavoidably detained in the country. Correspondence from the Wellington secretary was read and considered. Advice was received that Mr Shelton, the Association's representa- ■ tive, would arrive at Wellington from Home next Sunday, and that a 'conference of representatives of all branches was being neld at Wellington on Tuesday next, when he would present a report on the condition of affairs at Home j and the promise of the Port Authority '• of London to effect improvements. Messrs Lysnar and Field were deputed to proceed to Wellington, and leave for, I South by Sunday evening's steamer. Amongst the correspondence was a re r port from Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co., London, in the course of which jt was stated: — ■ j Discharge of Cargo.— There has been , considerable improvement in the ' discharge 'of meat cargoes, but the numerous sub-marks and numbers- still cause delay. Inspection of lighters is more efficient,, and ull stores ale notified ior inspection. " ' i Storage. — No provision has .yet been made for: increased and better storage facilities at the Port of London. Wl^Ue further storage | has been provided' at the outports, and addi- | tional storage is in - progress, London is alto- ' gether . deficient in adequate storage accommodation. There is nominally storage for 2\ million carcases, but this space is largely occ pied by the many and varied classes of goo. b which are now held in cold store. It is o be hoped that further storage at the poit t of discharge for at least another l;00 1,000 carcases will be put in- hand at otic© at he' Port of London to meet the requirements of the trade. Ihe committee considered the prospects of obtaining what was required ..in the interests of producers of the Dominion were very satisfactory, and that every endeavor, should be. made to continue the movement. In planning Mr Shelton' s movements, it was arranged to endeavor to 'secure his visiting Uisborpe to meet tue farmers to discuss the subject with them.
