A BANK JUBILEE.
(Special to the Herald.)
AUCKLAND, this day
The flag was flying yesterday at the Bank of New Zealand buildings, Auckland. It was just 50 years ago that the institution was first started m this city. That was the day of small things, and the total staff of the bank consisted of Mr Alexander Kennedy (manager), Mr H. H. McNab (accountant), Mr G. S. Kissling (teller), Mi- J. W. Chisholm (ledger keeper), and Mr G. W. Basley, who started as a junior the day the bank opened. After the lapse of half a century, Mr Kissling and Mr Basley are still residents of Auckland, and actively engaged m business. The bank! opened m a little shop m Queen street, m what was then known as Forsyth's buildings, somewhere about where Court's drapery establishment is located now.
