The appointment is gazetted of Mr John Lomas, to bo superintendent of workers' dwellings. Boards arc to be appointed in the various districts consisting of the superintendent, the Commissioner "of Crown Lands for the district, and the local Inspector of Factories. '-~ NAPIER, last night. The Rechabitcs Conference which commenced on Tuesday concluded to-day, 70 odd delegates being present. On tht motion of Sister E. M. Smith (Invercargill), it was decided that the time hao arrived when a district superintendent of female branches be appointed. It was decided to have a tent guide, and standing orders printed for the use of tents compiled bv the District Chief Ruler, also that, the New Zealand District be again approached with a view to amalgamation with the Central District. . . DUNEDLN, last night. The annual conference of the New Zealand Cbnercgational Union was opened to-day. • The Rev. A. G. Hunt, Timaru. presided. The annual report stated that the number of members in 1910 shower' an increase over the two preceding years, but tbe losses were also greater. Thi net gain was HI. Sunday school pupih had increased from 2800 to 3148. The value of church property had increased by £2025, and was now worth £64,318 The dobt on the property had increased by £1100, and was how £7398 6s.
