CALCUTTA, June 9
The fifth attempt to derail traiiis m Eastern Bengal, due to political motives, is renorted.
(Received June 10, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 10. A deliberate attempt w"as made to derail a train at Clifton Hill. On one rail a piece of iron and on the other a piece of hardwood had been carefully fixed to fit into the points between the twp rails, the idea being that the wheels of the train should run up the wedges and drop off. The weight of the engine, however, displaced the wedges. Had the uttempt proved successful the train would have dropped twenty feet over fin cmbahkment upon the houses below [Clifton Hill is within the boundaries of Collingwood City, and is three miles from Melbourne?]
