The Oama-ru Mail stales that since the municipal theatre was opened in the second week of October last year the income fromi it has already been sufficient to cover all expenses for the year, with ten weeks of the period still to run, and this notwithstanding that during the earlier months the theatre was let to cnly a very small extent, companies having planned their tours without taking Oamaru into their reckoning. With the bookings now in hand it seems probable that the Council will have a< surplus approaching £50 to go to the creation of a sinking fund,
