(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. . The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, August 29, says: — The mutton market is dull, except for North Island light weights. North Island mutton, light weights, are at 3|d, heavy 3|d, Canterbury light weights 4|d, nominal. The lamb market is slightly weaker, with less demand. • Supplies of homegrown lambs are heavy, and are lowering prices. New Zealand lambs. Canterbury brands, s|d, other than Canterbury sgd. The beef market is firm. Supplies are .^running short, but the high prices 1 are restricting business in New Zealand beef. Hindquarters are quoted at 4sd, forequarters at 3|d. The butter market is quiet, with little doing, but a good feeling prevails. The stocks of New Zealand butter are exhausted. Danish is quoted at 117s, Canadian 115s, Siberian 108s. The cheese market is steady. There is not much demand, but prices are firm. The stock of New Zealand cheese is exhausted. Canadian is quoted at 61s, per. cwt. The wool market is steady, with an improved demand.
