While sitting ontfiide liis camp 1 !»fc Meckering, Western Australia, William Cole was struck by lightning on tlie left ' foot. The little toe was shattered, and! the second one broken, while the foot was split fot a. distance of tliiee inches, the obries protruding. Cole suffered j severely 'from shock and loss of blood, and stated that for some time after being struck Jie 'was deprived of his sight. The boot on th© left foot wtts cut to pieces^, and fell off tlie foot. .
