Mr Pickerill, principal of the new denial schools'," speaking of the great influence on a. person's health exercised by the condition of the teeth, and the appalling steite tlie- -teeth of the people of the -colonies were m, said that much harm was done childi^en by carelessness m their earlier years, but that lie attributed much of the decay noticeable m children's teeth to quite another cause. Children of the colonies --had enormously more pocket money than had 'children at ■homeland this resulted m their having much larger . quantities of cakes and sweetmeats. Such matter had a pernicious effect on the teeth and was responsible for. quick and general decay.
