NAPIER-GISBORNE RAILWAY.
A DEPUTATION TO HON. MILLAR. e (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. s A deputation representing the Chamber of. Commerce waited on the Hon. I Mr Millar to urge the necessity of extending the railway from Napier to Gisborne. } The speakers pointed to the large - area of valuable country only awaiting 5 treasonable lines of communication to t become closely settled. The deputation urged that a sum of money be placed j on the estimates next session for a sur- * vey as a preliminary to carrying out the work. } The Hon. Mr. Millar promised to urge on his colleagues that a sum for survey be granted. The Minister also said he ■ would advise the straightening of the Napier-Port Ahuriri line.
