The thermometer readings at 9 a.m. this day were: — Auckland... 51 Westport ... 43 Gisborne ... 50 Greymouth ... 43 Napier ... 53 Bealey (2140 ft) 26 N.Plymouth 51 Cliristchurch... 44 Wanganui... 46 Timaru ... 41 Wellington 47 Oamaru ... 40 Blenheim... 47 Dunedin ..; 45 Nelson . ... 48 lnvercargill ... 35 Capt. Edwin forecasted at 9 a.m. today: "Easterly, moderate to strong winds ; glass, little movement ; tides moderate; probably cold' night." East Cape reported at 9 a.m. to-day : South-east breeze ; barometer 30.11, thermometer 52; cloudy weather; high tide, moderate sea. Tauranga and Castlepoint were the only stations to-day reporting a. rough sea; there was a slight swell at Napier, but at all other places it was smooth to moderate. The barometer at Gisborne showed 30.10. Christchurch was the only place reporting drizzling rain.
