CORRESPONDENCE.

CHINESE FAMINE FUND. (To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir,- -All arrangements are now made for the special collection, in all the churches, .. in aid of' the Chinese famine fund on Sunday morning next. Thoso who are unable or disinclined to attend that service are invited to send their contributions to any one of the ministers. One feels that the country people should be given an opportunity of contributing. Tliey have been largely blessed with prosperity of late years, and one is confident that many of . them will be glad to show their gratitude to God for His goodness in this practical way. It may be that it would be more convenient for them to hand their contributions to someone in town on. Wednesday and Satuiday next rather than go to the trouble of remitting them by letter. Li that case you might see your way, sir, to open a list for all such contributors and any others who preferred to give in this way. ' . It is to be hoped "that?" the article on the famine in Saturday's supplement has been pondered over by your readers. One feels euro that the facts only require to be known to stimulate a generous response. " Since writing last I have _ received 5s anonymously, and this morning t u< * M '" lowing note, which jnay interest your readers, and inspire them I trust with the aanw spirit, qame to hand : "Enclosed please find £1 for the China famine fund you spoke of this morning. I tried to get out of this contribution by thinking that it would not be in time, that' l coidd not afford, t, etc., but after spending -fully twice that- sum in listening to good music this past Aveek, the excuses somehow would nob 'pass- muster.'*'— Yours etc., WILLIAM GRANT [We will be glad to receive and acknowledge any subscriptions to this most deserving fund. — Ed.]
