Interviewed yesterday m regard to the proposed amendment of the Arbitration Acfc, the Son. J. A. Millar said: "I will introduce an amending JBiil, the object of Svhich will be to facilitate settlement of disputes within a few days of their being filed. The exact nature of. this amendment' I am not yet prepared to state. Then I desire to make the . Arbitration Act en : tirely self-contained, so that all cases for punishment will be dealt with by the Arbitration Court alone. This will prevent recourse to the Supreme Court as was done m tho case of the 'slaughtermen's strike. This strike proved that the law was an efficient one, but I consider it desirable that it be entirely self-contain-ed. Certain other amendments which cannot yet specify will also be proposed."
