♦ Captain Tucker, m reply to Mr Lysnar's remarks, said the reduction to 2s .6a a ton on general merchandise was just throwing revenue away. No one was missing the extra 2s 6d a ton, and therefore what, was the use of taking it off. They' wanted all the revenue they could get. — Mr Lysnar moved as an amendment to Mr Sievwright's motion that the by-laws and tariff, as already amended, be adopted.— Mr Matthewson seconded. Wharfage w as paid directly and indirectly on every part used m the construction of a vehicle,. and he did not think it was the Board's intention to handicap an industry by charging wharfage outward on finished vehicles^ and tna|> the charge would be- 6truck out.— -The Board deeded/t o make the alteration suggested' by Mr Ormond. ; After a few minor amendments, the' bylaws and tariff "were finally adopted on the motion of Mr Lysnar, seconded by Mr Hepburn.— The Chairman . suggested that the by-laws should come into operation on July Ist, which would begjn'another half-year. The by-laws had, first to go to the Government.— Mr Lysnar held that they should' be brought into operation on the 15th of next month. They wer^ losing a large amount each week.— The Board deciaed that the by-laws should coaie into operation on May 15th. Mr T.
