Along tlie back of the course Gladsome moved up, and followed Marvel Loch into the straight, in a great race home Marvel Loch won by half a length. Time, 2.35. Doncaster Handicap: Little Toy 1, Duke of Melton 2, Noreen 3. All started but Charles Stuart. The first to move ; was Cakewalk, followed by Refrain. At ! six furlongs the order was Refrain, Air- j loch Cakewalk, Tunguu, and Mutation. Rounding the bend Airloch went to the front. Maniapoto led into the straight. Little Toy joined issue at the distance, and won comfortably by tliree lengths, j the same distance separating second and 1 third. Time, I.39i— a record. Noreen iumfhed very fast, and just managed to | beat" Maniapoto- for third place. Machine Gun did not start, owiug to tho high weight. These were the only I starters. ■ Charles Stuart and Kaffirpau •together made the running to the straight, where Lady Wallace went to the front and won by two lengths. Time, 3.16i.

April 16. — For tho races to-day the weather was fine, bub unseasonably hot. Tho iittcudiinco was very large. Flying Handicap : Machine Gun 1, Cloiisilla 2, Condor 3. Nineteen started. Time, 1.15^. Champagne Stakes: Collarit 1, Antonious 2. Time, 1.164. Sydney Cup : Noreon 1, Proceed 2, Boabdil'3. All started but Zenda. Betting : 7 to 2 Soot Free, 7 to 1 Gladsome and Little Toy, 8 to 1 Ossinn Proceed, and Noreen. 12 to 1 Boabdil, 14 to 1 Marvel Loch. The first away were Refrain, Maniapoto, Proceed, and FitzGrafton. At tho nine furlongs Maniapoto was a couple of lengths clear of Noreen. Passing the furlong Maniapoto increased the lead to four lengths, but before reaching the half-mile Maniapoto dropped out. Marvel Loch was first in tho straight. At tho distance Noreen went to the front, and won by a length and a-lialf from Proceed, who beat Boabdil by a length, Gladsome fourth. The lust, to finish was Maniaix)ti>. Time, 3.29J. First - Steeplechase : Merry Jest 1, Up-to-date 2. Snowstorm was killed, while Verger received injuries in {he same race, which compel his destruction. The jockeys were unhurt.
