Volunteer camps held during the holidays have proved very successful, some very useful work having been done. WANGANUI, this day. Beautiful weather has been experienced here for the holidays. HASTINGS, this day. The Friendly Societies! sports yesterday were a great suceew, there being a large attendance. The sports were preceded by a procession. , WELLINGTON, this day. A conference of representatives of' the Painters' Unions throughout the colony opened here to-day. The object of the gathering is to organise a federation for New Zealand. . : PICTON, this day. At the Championship Regatta at Picton there was glorious weather.
