The front engine left the main line and got on the side track, the. -points being unlocked. The engine then went off the line,' but a truck between the engine and second engine remained on the line. Hie next five passenger cars were derailed.' The train travelled fifty yards before 1 it was brought to a standstill. About 400 passengers received a great fright. The engine of a special express from Invercurgill to Dunedin, leaving Gore at 11.54 last night, was derailed while going for Avater. Two engines were obtained from Inwrcargill, and on arrival of the night train from Dunedin the 1 passengers transhipped into each other's trains, the south-going train being 1^ hours, and the north-going 3 hour* lute.
