ACCOUNTANTS' INSTITUTES.
(Press Assn.— By Telegraph.— Copyright) LONDON, March 2. Tile Privy Council has advised the King not to confer a charter on tlie Victorian Accountants' Institute. (Received March 3, 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE. March 3. The Accountants' application referred to m a London cable, 'principally came from three institutes, the Victorian, Balkrat,.and Federal Institute, which is an other .Melbourne- Society. They applied for v charter for v title as the Incorporatted Institute of Accountants of Victoria. Opposition was manifested to the proposal by other societies, -particularly Sydney ones. Three petitions were sent to England, asking that the request be not granted. The reason for the opposition wus that there is at present no cluirtered institute of accountants m Australia, all societies standing on their own, and there is a strong feeling m favour of one chartered institute btiug formed for the whole of the Commonwealth.
